Jésus Christ (Issâ)

Islam is the only non Christian faith which believes in Jesus Christ {peace be upon him}. Due to the miraculous nature of the messiah, many are confused regarding his position, his nature and his mission. Others believe that he is the son of God, others believe that He is God, the son of God and the son of man at the same time. Others believe that Jesus helped to create the universe. Many believe that Jesus came to die for the sins of the world, thus one must believe in the shedding of his blood for the remittance of sins. Today we will explore the truth about Jesus Christ peace be upon him.

Allah tells us about his birth, “Behold! The angels said: O Mary! Allah will give you glad tidings of a Word from Him, his name will be Christ Jesus, the Son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah. He will speak to the people in childhood and in maturity and he will be (of the company) of the righteous. She said; ‘O my Lord! How can I have a son when no man has touched me?’ He said, ‘Even so; Alah creates what He wills when He has decreed a matter, He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is! Allah will teach him the book and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel.” (3:45-47). We believe that Jesus was born miraculously. Jesus (p) spoke as a babe in his cradle to defend his mother from the false charge of fornication. An account of the life of Jesus (p) is in the Holy Quran. (19:16-40)

We believe that Jesus performed miracles by Allah’s permission, “…I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were the figure of a bird, and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by Allah’s permission; and I heal those born blind, and the lepers and I bring the dead to life by Allah’s leave; and I declare to you what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely therin is a sign for you if you did believe.” (3:49). There are miracles Jesus (p) performed which are not recorded in any other scriptures. Jesus (p) knew what a person ate even if it was many hours ago. He knew everything that people had in their homes. All praises be to Allah, an honoured position do we hold about the son of Mary (p). Even if Jesus was born miraculously or did miracles, that does not mean the messiah is God or part of God. We give all glory and thanks to Allah who sent Jesus on the earth to his people to remind them of the Torah, to make lawful the part that was forbidden for them. (3:50).

Thirdly, what was the message of Jesus (p)? Allah says in his book, “Verily I have sent to every community a messenger proclaiming, worship Allah and avoid worshipping false dieties. (16:36). Additionally, Allah reveals what Jesus said to the children of Israel, “It is Allah who is my Lord and your Lord, then worship Him. This is a way that is straight.”(3:51). We see very clearly that Jesus (p) commanded the people to worship Allah, however, amongst the people rejected faith in the message of Jesus (p). Allah reveals, “When Jesus found unbelief on their part He said, ‘Who will be my helpers to the work of Allah?’ Said the disciples, ‘We are Allah’s helpers, we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are muslims. Our Lord! We believe in what You have revealed and we follow the messenger then write us down among those who bear witness. The unbelievers plotted and planned, and Allah too planned, and the best of planners is Allah.’”(3:52-54).

Today, most of the people have rejected the message of Jesus (p). Roman Catholicism incorporated pagan teachings into that of the message of Jesus, thus gave that poison to our black African slaves, this is the reason why the people’s minds are saturated with polytheism. The protestants tried to get out of Catholicism however, they held on to the very beliefs of their counterparts, that is the concept of the trinity.

Did Jesus Christ die for the sins of the world? No, far from the reality. The only being who can save the world is the one who created it. We reject the notion that God died for the sins of the world on Mount Calvary. Allah says in His exalted book, “They said (in boast) we killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah; but they killed him not, nor crucified him. Only a likeness of that was shown to them; and those who differ therin are full of doubts with no (certain) knowledge but only conjecture to follow, for a surety they killed him not. (4:157). The Holy Quran is correct for a number of reasons: Firstly, if Jesus is God, God cannot die; if Jesus is a part of God, no part of God cannot die.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Secondly, people who fabricated these reports about the death of Jesus (p), there are many conflicting reports about the issue in their own books. Thirdly, there are christian sects who reject the notion about the death of the messiah (p). Fourthly, blood cannot save or purify sins. Allah says in His book, “It’s not the blood that reaches me but your piety.” We believe in the Grace of Allah and by doing righteous deeds is one guaranteed paradise. The prophet Muhammad said in an authentic narration, “Anyone who dies saying I bear witness there is no god but Allah will enter paradise.”

Thus in islam, the death of an innocent God, half god half man, whole god whole man, 100% god 100% man is irrevelant and this is thrown out the window. The eating of the body and blood of ‘God’ is nothing but spiritual carnibalism and dracula folklore.

We believe that Allah raised Jesus onto Himself.(4:158). He was raised in a perfect body and resides in heaven. We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ (p). He will come back on the earth to kill the false messiah, break the cross, kill the swine etc. The messiah will be a witness to them on the day of judgement for worship him and his mother (p). There are numerous accounts in great detail regarding the coming of the messiah in the sayings of prophet Muhammad. We reject the notion that Jesus seats at the right side or right hand side of God. Allah does not have a left or a right side, if that is suggested then this implied that Allah has limitations. Allah is far above what the disbelievers attribute to Him.

Many Christians believe that Jesus assisted Allah in the creation of the universe. Others have made him a god along with Allah. Allah says in His book, “If there were two gods there would be chaos in the universe.” Allah does not need any help to create. When He commands a thing He says, “Be and it is!” Additionally, it asserts that there are two creators which is a blasphemous statement against Allah swt. Also, we reject that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega. Allah is without beginning and without end and He gave creation a beginning. Thus, we reject all these forms of polytheistic beliefs.

Another polytheistic belief is the idea that Allah has an offspring named Jesus. Allah says in His book, “The Jews call Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the Son of Allah, that is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they are imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them; how they are deluded away the truth. They take their priests and their anchorites to be their Lords besides Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but one God; There is no god but He, praise and glory to Him; (far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him). (9:30-31). When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be onto him and his family) recited that verse, a christian who had embraced Islam said they do not worship the priest. The Prophet replied, “Don’t the priest make permissible for you what is permissible and vice versa (paraphrase).”

The companion said, “yes.”

The prophet said, “This is how you worship them.”

Secondly, Allah says in His book, “They say, ‘Allah has begotten a son,’ Glory be to Him. No, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth, everything renders worship to Him.” The Holy Quran, the divine speech of Allah refutes the idea that Allah has an offspring. Also, Allah was not begotten neither does He begets anyone. (112:3).

The truth is Jesus was a messenger of Allah who was sent with the Injeel (Gospels). Unfortunately, it is not the scriptures the Christians hold today. Allah says in His book, “And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, and (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message)…” (3:48-49). In short, we do not believe that Jesus, the son of Mary is the son of Allah. Those who say they are sons and daughters of God, Allah asks you in the Quran, “If you are sons of god, why does Allah punish you for your sins? No, you are a creation of Allah.”

In conclusion, the Holy Quran is the only divine speech of Allah. The previous scriptures are filled with many versions, some with 72 books, some with 66, 80+ which proves that these scriptures were not preserved. The Holy Quran was revealed in a pure arabic tongue and it has been memorized by millions of muslims and preserved in museums throughout the Middle East as well as some parts of Europe.
